Springs

Compression Springs
Compression springs, or coil springs, are open coiled steel wires sized to exert compression along the spring axis. When subjected to compression, they repel the applied force, attempting to return to their original length.
The force that is produced therefore makes them an excellent component for energy storage, ideal for various applications. From the automotive sector (springs for shock absorbers), to the molding industry (springs for molds), up to the most common applications, for example in the mechanisms of ballpoint pens.
They can be classified according to diameter and be in turn divided into:

• cylindrical springs (constant diameter from one end to the other)
• conical springs (diameter of one end greater than the other)
• biconical springs (diameter at the center larger - or smaller - than at the ends)

Extension springs
The construction of extension springs generally begins with a wire of circular cross-section, helically wound around an axis, with contact coils and eyelets at the ends. This type of spring reacts to an axial force that tends to extend its length, with or without initial tension.
