ASA
ASA filament
ASA filament for FDM 3D printers, strong and rigid, resistant to atmospheric agents. ASA wire: mechanical resistance.
Acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate (ASA) is a great alternative to ABS. It has mechanical properties similar to ABS, but allows printing without a closed chamber. This material has been specially designed to be more resistant to atmospheric agents. ASA thread is strong and stiff, but relatively easy to print. Furthermore, the material is highly resistant to chemicals and heat. ASA has less distortion than ABS, but it shouldn't be too cool when printing. It is successfully used in the automotive industry.
The ASA filament in detail
This filament was created in the 70s by the chemical giant BASF, as an alternative to ABS, with greater resistance to atmospheric agents. In fact, the ASA filament has exceptional resistance and great rigidity, great chemical resistance and thermal stability and, above all, it does not yellow over time.
