Nylon is a synthetic polymer used mainly in industry. It is one of the most imported 3D printing filaments. Compared to most other filaments it is unbeatable in strength, flexibility and durability. Nylon is therefore an excellent polyamide plastic for rapid prototyping. It has good self-lubricating properties which make it particularly suitable for printing gears and snap components and being very abrasion resistant it is the ideal choice for printing durable parts. However, it is not suitable for outdoor environments as it is highly hygroscopic.

It prints at high temperatures (about 240°C) and is subject to delamination. So nylon is harder to work with than most filaments. The material must be stored in a dry and cool place.

Precautions for use when using nylon

This material tends to peel off in the corners, and a heated print bed is therefore required to preserve the dimensional aspect of the object. To combat this deformation, it is advisable to use glue or adhesive spray on the printing plate of the 3D printer.
