The extruder unit is the heart of a filament 3D printer (FDM). In fact, it is the part of the machine that melts the filament and deposits it on the print bed. An extruder assembly consists of the following components:

• Extruder: the actual extruder, responsible for how much and how fast the 3D printer pushes the filament into thehotend.
• Hot end is the component of a 3D printer that melts the filament for extrusion and maintains a consistent and accurate temperature to ensure print quality. A hotend that reaches higher temperatures means that a wider range of materials can be printed, such as nylon 3D printing filament, polycarbonate 3D printing filament, or PEEK.
• Nozzle: Also called a nozzle, this is the component of a 3D printer that deposits molten filament into the printing area. There are many types of 3D printer nozzles available, each with its own strengths.
