ASA filament from AzureFilm is an acrylonitrile styrene acrylate FDM 3D printer filament. ASA filament has many properties that make it ideal for engineering and outdoor applications. It is usually compared to ABS, but is stiffer, stronger and more flexible.
It is designed primarily for professional use. Most often it is used for prototype production that must tolerate higher temperatures and be UV-resistant. Models made from ASA filament are durable and impact resistant. They can be exposed to sun and heat and generally do not warp or change color.
Compared with ABS, ASA filament also deforms less during 3D printing.
It is an ASA filament that is compatible with all FDM 3D printers that have a heated platen, closed chamber recommended, but not required. Examples are Prusa, Creality, MakerBot, Ultimaker, Artillery, Flashforge, Creatbot, Voron and many others.
What are the strengths of the ASA 3D printing filament Azurefilm?
The ASA filament from Azurefilm is characterized by several aspects:
- High UV resistance
- Water resistant and high chemical resistance
- excellent for functional uses and prototype production
- possibility of post-production with acetone
- can be printed with an open 3D printer
Note: ASA contains styrene, and although it can be printed with an FDM 3D printer without a closed chamber we recommend using a cover with management of fumes emitted during printing. We also recommend that you arrange the 3D printer in a well-ventilated place.
What are the properties of the ASA 3D printing filament Azurefilm?
The properties of ASA 3D printing filament from Azurefilm are:
- Strength: High
- Flexibility: Low
- Durability: High
- Difficulty of use: Medium
- Shrinkage/warping: Minimal
- Soluble: No
- Food safe: Not safe for food
Note: ASA can form cracks during the printing process, so care must be taken with the parameters of the heated platen and fan cooling.
