The Nevermore project began with the first tests of using activated carbon as filters for 3D printers. After various experiences with carbon that is oxidizing and therefore damaging to 3D printer parts, Nevermore released its own pellet for use with Nevermore's dedicated filtration media, but not only that!
Types of Nevermore pellets
There are to date 3 types of Nevermore pellets you can use as a filtration system in your 3D printer.
- Nevermore Carbon
- Nevermore Scorch
- Nevermore Boost
Let's look at them specifically.
Nevermore Carbon
Nevermore Carbon is a high-efficiency filter carbon designed for 3D printers, offering superior adsorption capacity through the use of high-quality microporous activated carbon.
It offers optimal adsorption for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted during 3D printing, such as styrene, benzaldehyde, toluene, and benzene.
The adsorption capacity of benzene is up to 0.48g/g [CTC>=80], while the adsorption surface area reaches 1250m²/g, one of the highest in the market.
Key Features:
- Microporous Activated Carbon: High-quality product from a major European manufacturer, highly micro-porous and laboratory tested.
- VOC Adsorption: Optimized for aromatic hydrocarbons emitted during 3D printing, such as styrene, benzaldehyde, toluene and benzene, with a benzene adsorption capacity of up to 0.48g/g.
- Adsorption surface area: 1250m²/g, a market leader.
- Density: 420g/L for optimal performance
- CTC (% by weight): 80 for superior quality
- Vacuum Packaging: Minimizes dust during shipping and ensures a ready-to-use product.
- Available Sizes: Regular S, with a capacity of 750ml (about 0.33kg) and XL, with a capacity of 2300ml (about 1kg)
Nevermore Scorch
Nevermore Scorch is a pellet for use as a 3D printer filter based on highly microporous zeolite, enriched with potassium permanganate (KMnO4).
This filter chemically transforms VOCs emitted during printing, such as styrene (a major VOC in ABS and ASA filaments), into harmless potassium benzoate.
The process is accelerated at high temperatures, making Nevermore Scorch ideal for heated printing chambers.
The pellet changes color from bright purple to dull gray when exhausted, providing a visual indication for replacement.
Nevermore Scorch is vacuum-packed to minimize dust generation during shipping, ensuring a clean product ready for immediate use in 3D printers.
Key Features:
- Adsorbent Material: Based on zeolite, enhanced with potassium permanganate (KMnO4).
- Chemical Transformation of VOCs: Converts toxic VOCs into harmless food additives.
- High Temperature Efficiency: Ideal for heated printing chambers, with an accelerated adsorption process.
- Visual Exhaustion Indicator: Changes color from bright purple to dull gray.
- Size: Regular S (about 750ml, 0.66kg) and XL (about 2300ml, 2kg).
Nevermore Boost
Nevermore Boost is a pellet for use as a 3D printer filter, pre-mixed 50/50 with Nevermore Carbon and Nevermore Scorch, offering an uncomplicated filtration solution.
It combines the long life and stellar adsorption capacity of activated carbon with the performance of Nevermore Scorch in hot environments.
Ideal for users with closed 3D printers printing materials such as ABS, ASA, PETG and PC at chamber temperatures of 50°C ±10°C.
Key features:
- Pre-prepared 50/50 Mix: Combination of Nevermore Carbon and Nevermore Scorch.
- Long Life and High Adsorption Capacity: Activated carbon ensures excellent performance.
- Performance in Hot Environments: Nevermore Scorch optimizes filtration at high temperatures.
- Ideal for Closed 3D Printers: Perfect for printing ABS, ASA, PETG and PC at temperatures of 50°C ±10°C.
