Adafruit

Adafruit was founded in 2005 by MIT engineer Limor "Ladyada" Fried. Her goal was to create the best place online for learning electronics and to make the best products designed for users of all ages and skill levels.

Adafruit has expanded its offerings to include tools, equipment and electronics that Limor selects, and personally approves, before joining the company. Adafruit is a 100% female-owned manufacturing company.

Adafruit manufactures many of its own products in the New York factory. From PCB design to pick and place machine loading. Printing, soldering, testing, debugging and more ... the Adafruit production line allows us to come up with new ideas and bring them to customers in just a few weeks. In addition to the manufacturing of their products, many of Adafruit's shows and videos are produced and broadcast live from the factory.

Limor Fried, founder and chief engineer of Adafruit, works with a team of talented creative engineers to develop community-driven products and code. Adafruit Feather (released in 2015), for example, is a full line with over 100 products, including development boards and accessories. In 2017, the CircuitPython coding language was introduced, the branch of MicroPython, designed to simplify experimentation and education on low-cost microcontrollers.
