- Description
Self-lubricating bushings are also called dry bearings. In fact, thanks to their PTFE layer, they have several advantages:
- They do not require maintenance
- They have good friction properties with low wear and high load capacity
- High sliding speed
- Very high working temperature range
- Negligible stick-slip effect
- Low operating backlash
- Good chemical resistance
- Low water absorption and swelling
Material
Dry bearings are made of low-carbon steel reinforcement that imparts mechanical strength. They are coated externally with a 2µm thickness of copper. Internally, however, they have a layer of porous bronze sintered on the wall to ensure good adhesion of the PTFE layer to the steel. They can be subjected to machining, except at the sliding surface except for any channels to run lubricating oil.
Lubrication
In the initial run-in phase, some of the PTFE is transferred to the contact surface, creating a lubricating film that allows low friction without the need for lubrication. We recommend the use of oil, which not only lubricates but also draws heat away from the sliding surface, extending the life of the bushing. Avoid, on the other hand, the use of grease, which tends to cause the PTFE to peel off. Do not use MoS2-based additives.
Applications
These types of bushings can be used in various fields of application. They are especially suitable where there are high loads and medium-low speeds even oscillating.
Package contains: 1 x Self-lubricating bushing with composite PTFE 5x7x8 mm
