3D printer nozzle manufactured by Dyze Design made of tungsten carbide for the ultimate balance of wear resistance and high performance.
Tungsten carbide, not to be confused with tungsten alloy, which is a metal, is the ceramic of choice when it comes to wear and abrasion resistance. Steel and tool steel cutting tools are made of tungsten carbide. It is also widely used in the mining industry as a button insert for rock crushing.
The high thermal performance of tungsten carbide keeps the nozzle tip hot, allowing for faster printing speed without sacrificing quality.
Tungsten carbide has exceptional wear resistance due to its high hardness. The size and height of the nozzle bore always remain the same, regardless of the duration and intensity of use.
Compared with a reference brass nozzle, it is much easier to extrude with the tungsten carbide nozzle. In fact, the output flow can be increased by about 80% while still achieving the same results.
Strengths of Dyze Design's Tungsten carbide nozzles
- Ultra wear-resistant
The high hardness of tungsten carbide ensures a smooth extrusion experience. Its unparalleled wear resistance ensures that both nozzle diameter and plate maintain the same size, as do your molded parts. - Low thrust force
The high thermal conductivity of the nozzle tip and body pump all the heat necessary to maintain a uniform temperature during extrusion. Viscosity is highly dependent on plastic temperature for a constant shear rate. The flow pressure will be constant, with excellent results and stability. The ease of filament pushing will provide an extra margin for extruder safety. - Higher speed
Due to the high thermal performance of the nozzle in general, the printing speed can be further increased without sacrificing quality. The special shape inside the nozzle, enabled by the production technique, improves the flow as the diameter is reduced, thus enabling higher speed. - Low friction
The entire nozzle is plated with electrolytic nickel to improve sliding properties. The plastic slides over the nozzle instead of adhering to it. The result is cleaner workpieces and fewer drag problems. - Suitable for any material
From PLA to carbon fiber reinforced plastics, this nozzle can handle any material. The low-friction coating greatly aids flexible filaments, allowing them to glide through the nozzle. A single nozzle offers quality prints, wear resistance and high flow, so there is no need to buy a ton of different nozzles when a single nozzle can offer the best of all worlds. - Unbeatable price/performance
Tungsten carbide is easier to manufacture than corundum (sapphire, ruby, etc.) and performs very similarly in abrasion and much better in thermal conductivity. The use of steel facilitates its production and offers amazing thermal performance. Excellent performance-price ratio.
