An FDM 3D printer works by melting at a certain temperature a plastic filament-which can be of different types.
This melting can result, in some cases, in the release of certain substances (sometimes referred to generally as "fumes") that, in addition to causing an unpleasant odor, can also be toxic if breathed in*.
Actions can therefore be taken to go about reducing exposure to these fumes.
For example, Voron 2.4 involves installing paneling that creates an enclosed chamber. By printing a special backing (provided by the official Voron Design guide) we can install a HEPA filter. In this way, the fumes that accumulate in the printing chamber are filtered out before being released into the working environment.
Ideally, an activated carbon filter should also be coupled with the HEPA filter.
By installing HEPA filter and activated carbon filter, high efficiency against nanoparticles and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and UFPs (Ultra Fine Particles) is achieved. They also make it possible to reduce odors emitted during printing.
The filter has an average lifespan of 3 to 6 months. It varies greatly depending on how often the printer is used, the material printed, the environment in which it is installed, and many other factors.
The filter for the printer Voron 2.4 is in an easily accessible location, so it is easy to check its condition and replace it if necessary.
Caution. It is important to work safely.
Please remember that it is always recommended to keep a 3D printer in an airy unenclosed and well accessible place.
Even if you are using PLA, it is preferable to provide good ventilation for the extraction of any unknown vapors emitted by the dyes in the colored PLA, or by poor quality raw materials.
In addition, always wait at least 30 minutes before performing any maintenance or modification work to allow the printer to cool down. Periodic inspection and replacement of the HEPA filter is also considered maintenance.
Package contains: 1 x HEPA filter for printer Voron 2.4
Note: The filter in the size we provide is compatible with the EXHAUST block described in the official manual for Voron 2.4 r2. An adapter is required to achieve the best performance. Attached are the stl needed.
