Thehotend Mosquito Conduct from Slice Engineering is small, lightweight and does not use a fan.
The Slice Engineering team designed a hotend in which heat is carried to a small bronze heat sink at the top called the "Base." The conduction heat sink of the Mosquito Conduct has no cooling fins and is designed to use conduction heat transfer only. Although the Mosquito Conduct is a small hotend, and the heatsink has no fins, it is capable of printing up to 500°C.
This hotend must be mounted on a metal carriage that can help conduct heat away from the base. The mating part must have 88 cm2 of surface area exposed to air at room temperature for radiative and convective heat transfer to facilitate cooling. An alternative is the use of liquid cooling. The Conduct base also incorporates a rapido release geometry that allows the entire hotend to be quickly replaced in print chambers at any temperature.
Mosquito Conduct is designed primarily for integration by 3D printer manufacturers in high-performance applications. Here are the main features:
- It is suitable for printing temperatures up to 500°C for all printable thermoplastic materials.
- Eliminates heat creep, reduces jams, and improves print resolution with Bimetallic Heat Break™ technology.
- It conducts 85% less heat than a standard threaded heat break.
- Increased structural rigidity allows the nozzle to be changed with one hand.
- It is adaptable to almost all FFF/FDM printers and ideal for multi-extrusion systems. In fact, it has a M2.5 mounting hole pattern like all components in the product family Mosquito.
- It uses RepRap-style nozzles (M6 x 1.0 threads with 7 mm thread length and 12.5 mm total length).
- Its low mass has little impact on the 3D printer carriage. This allows for maximum X-Y acceleration.
