Package contains: 1 x THERMAX PEKK-A - Natural / 1.75mm / 500g - 3DXTech
ThermaX? PEKK-A (PolyEtherKetone) is made from Arkema Kepstan® PEKK and is one of the highest performing polymers in the plastics industry. A leading material in the PAEK family, PEKK has exceptionally good mechanical, thermal and chemical resistance properties. Moreover, not only is it substantially easier to print than PEEK, it is one of the simplest ultrapolymers for the 3D printing period. Developed in collaboration with Arkema, a leading supplier of ultra performance materials.
Benefits of ThermaX? PEKK-A include:
High thermal properties with CUT of 260°C, Tg of 162°C and Tm of 335°C
Substantially easier to 3D print than PEEK
Wide processing window from 345-375°C
Inherently flame resistant (UL94 V-0)
Low smoke production
Exceptional mechanical, thermal and chemical strengths
Compare our PEKK-A with Stratasys® Antero? PEKK
Both use Arkema's real PEKK as the base resin component.
ThermaX? PEKK-A has a lower cost and is specifically designed for use on low-priced open material 3D printers
Stratasys® Antero? is more expensive and requires users to purchase an expensive Fortus® system and a high-priced user license
Filament specifications:
Diameter: 1.75 mm (+/- 0.05 mm)
Recommended print settings:
Extruder: 345-375°C
Platen temperature: 120-140°C
Platen preparation: we recommend?Use of an adhesive or poly tape
Heated chamber: recommended, heated to 70-150°C if possible
Media: The detachable HTS ThermaX high temperature media works ideally for complex, high temperature materials just like this
Drying instructions: 120°C for 4 hours
Annealing of 3D printed parts:
Parts printed with PEKK can be annealed after printing to increase crystallinity in the resin. This will maximize the mechanical, thermal and chemical resistance properties. The printed parts will be a transparent golden color and then turn a dull light brown color once annealed. If PEKK parts are not annealed, the maximum use temperature is 150°C. If annealing is done, the maximum use temperature is 260°C. You can choose which route to take depending on the needs of your part.
Put your part in an oven and raise the temperature to 130°C, let it stay at that temperature for 30 minutes. Allow it to cool completely before handling.
