Roto is the extruder that balances weight (140g) and strength (70N+) to offer the lightest and most powerful 3D printing extruder on the market.
Key Features:
Weight: Bowden extruder 137g / Standard extruder 140g / Extruder with sensors 146g
Extrusion force: 70N+
Filament diameter: 1.75mm
Motor current: 0.14 A + 10% Max
Transmission ratio: 11.262:1
Operating temperature: 40°C
Lightweight but full of strength
The roto gearbox consists of a planetary initial stage followed by a cylindrical secondary stage and a double-toothed third stage. The result is sufficient extrusion force to fully utilize the maximum volumetric flow rates of the Revo High Flow nozzles, while ensuring that the motor stalls to prevent excessive pull force from leading to filament breakage.
Attention to maintenance
Ease of use was a major consideration in the design of Roto. Accessing the filament drive gears requires only three bolts to remove the heat sink and filament duct, leaving the extruder body mounted in place.
The filament tensioning system has also been revamped, providing a simple bi-stable mechanism that provides optimum tension or releases tension completely to aid filament loading and cold pulls. This makes it possible to change the nozzle and release the filament with one hand.
Attractive design
Roto features a unique 3D printed metal heat sink. SLM 3D printing has given unprecedented design freedom; in fact, the design has been optimized to the maximum compared to classic CNC-milled heatsinks. This heatsink prevents heat from flowing to the top, in fact it dramatically reduces heat buildup by conduction. It causes all air to be directed toward the heat-break to disrupt the heat radiated from the hot-side. With these specific features to date it is the most thermally effective heatsink that E3D has ever produced.
Standard... or smart
The evolution of Roto does not stop at the technical and performance features you are used to. With the upgrade to bundle sensorized you can add to your arsenal:
- filament monitoring,
- a trigger button,
- fan speed monitoring
- heatsink temperature monitoring.
With all these enhancements, you can confidently monitor your internal workflow with full remote control of the printhead and quick and easy maintenance for a hands-free 3D printing experience.
Please note: The roto fan is 5V and cannot be connected directly to a 12/24V output on the control board without the use of an intermediate 5V control board.
