e3D has launched a new ecosystem of extruders, the Revo family, of which new nozzles are part: the RapidChange Revo™ Nozzles.
These nozzles are very different from their predecessor V6. It's not just the looks that change, however, so let's go in this article to find out together what new features this product brings.
They are safer and more reliable
To change a V6 nozzle, your 3D printer has to be turned on and plugged in, heated to nearly 300°C, and you often have to partially disassemble something to get enough room to work.
Care must also be taken not to damage the thermistor and cartridge. Installing Revo nozzles will forever avoid a hot fix, thus being safer from a safety standpoint for both the operator and other printer components.
They are easier to use
If you can unscrew the toothpaste tube cap, then you can safely use a Revo Nozzle! e3D has developed a component that is intuitive and easy to use, without having to have specialized technical knowledge.
They are more affordable
Revo ecosystem nozzles are removable with only two fingers, as seen in the figure comparing a nozzle swap with Revo Six vs. V6.
Nozzle exchange in less than 30 seconds
22.2 seconds was the fastest Revo nozzle change record.
Reduced downtime
Clogged nozzles can put a machine out of commission while waiting for replacement parts. Switching to Revo Nozzles could help simplify maintenance operations. If thehotend is clogged just change the Revo Nozzle and you're done. This can come in handy especially if there are many printers you work with.
Color-coded and engraved
Nozzle sizes are color-coded to be more intuitive: colors yellow (0.25), red (0.4), blue (0.6) and green (0.8).
If you were to remove the colored sock, however, each nozzle has its size engraved on it.
Key features: let's recap
