This extruder upgrade kit is for Prusa MK2.5 or Prusa MK3 in which Bondtech gears are present. This kit contains the parts needed to convert the extruder to a new extruder concept with a 3:1 gear ratio for better accuracy and resolution, optimized geometry for heat sink cooling and many other improved features. It also reduces moving weight to reduce vibration and ghosting.
This is a co-development effort with the Prusa team. A lot of work was spent on this project to find a solution that can be mounted on Prusa I3 MK2, MK2S, MK2.5 and MK3.
The extruder parts are not optimized for FDM printing but for SLS printing which we use to produce the polyamide 12 housing parts for maximum precision and strength.
The original 50x15 radial partial cooling fan is used in this configuration and is not included.
The original 40x40x10 heatsink cooling fan is used in this configuration and is not included.
For more effective HotEnd cooling, we recommend a high pressure fan such as Sunon's MF40100V1-1000U-G99 or similar.
The original filament sensor cover is used and not included.
Weight reduction is 121g, from 387g as default configuration compared to 266g for this configuration (extruder, motor).
