Copper Alloy Plated Volcano Heater Block
These blocks are designed for maximum high temperature performance. Made from a special high temperature copper alloy with a softening point well above 500°C (compared to aluminum blocks that start to lose integrity above 350°C) and a very high thermal conductivity these copper blocks are perfect for high temperature applications but also work perfectly with everyday filaments such as PLA, ABS.
In addition to high temperature performance, these blocks have advanced nickel based plating, which greatly reduces the adhesion of the plastic to the block. This is great for everyday filaments that keep things clean and shiny, but it's especially important at temperatures above 300°C where you can't use a silicone sock.
A plated copper nozzle is included for maximum performance!
Why Copper
Copper has more than 3 times the thermal conductivity of brass, and the copper alloy has been plated to eliminate the oxidation that occurs in copper at high temperatures. A small side effect is that the high thermal mass of copper will also increase heating times, but will provide more accurate temperature control.
This copper alloy resists temperature very well and will not begin to soften or undergo annealing until over 500°C. It's perfect for high temperature printing where aluminum blocks can't reach.
