The gator:RTC is a supplemental data logging tool to be used in conjunction with the gator:log, part of SparkFun's gator:bit series of gator-clippable accessories designed for easy interface with the micro:bit or other microcontrollers. This tool allows a student to focus more on the experiment than watching a thermometer or stopwatch.
At its core is a RV-3028 real time clock (RTC) module from Micro Crystal, using a convenient I²C bus interface. The module enables you to track the year, month, date, weekday, hours, minutes, and seconds. It also includes an external event input with a handy time stamp function. It is extremely low power, running at about 40-60nA at 3V. The gator:RTC provides four pads for power and data and a built-in, rechargeable 3V lithium coin cell battery.
The micro:bit is a pocket-sized computer that lets you get creative with digital technology. Between the micro:bit and our shield-like bit boards you can do almost anything while coding, customizing and controlling your micro:bit from almost anywhere! You can use your micro:bit for all sorts of unique creations, from robots to musical instruments and more. At half the size of a credit card, this versatile board has vast potential!
